We are an NGO of action
Our history
The Karisma Humanitarian Outreach Mission (KHOM) was established as an initiative flowing from the efforts of the alumni of Pusat Tuisyen Akademik Karisma (PTA Karisma), a private education centre located in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
Where we work
Within 5 years, we have worked in 4 countries covering areas of near conflict zones to send much needed humanitarian assistance to victims of war, hunger, and disaster. We choose to work in to hard-to-reach areas trying to ensure humanitarian aid gets to those who have not received assistance. We choose locations where we know we can deliver the greatest impact with the most effective resources.
Meet Our Team
These are the dedicated people who make our missions possible.
Nik Marina, the esteemed founder of the Karisma Humanitarian Outreach Mission (KHOM), is a distinguished educator and entrepreneur with a passion for transformative impact. As co-founder of Pusat Tuisyen Akademik Karisma alongside her husband, her educational center has earned the distinction of being recognized by the Kelantan Ministry of Education as the premier institution in the state.
Inspired by the success of her early emergency and humanitarian missions, Marina brought together her former students, known as Karismans, to establish KHOM, dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable communities worldwide.
On the global stage, Marina has spearheaded over 80 humanitarian relief missions, providing life-saving aid to hundreds of thousands of Syrians across Jordan, Lebanon, Türkiye, and Syria. Known for her hands-on approach, she and her team have braved conflict zones to deliver critical assistance directly to displaced families. In 2023, Marina and her team went on the ground to deliver humanitarian assistance to victims of the massive earthquake in Türkiye, providing critical support during one of the region’s darkest hours.
In Palestine, her leadership extends to high-risk regions, ensuring essential aid reaches those most in need through trusted partnerships and dedicated ground teams. Marina’s commitment includes leading emergency campaigns during the Gaza War and the Al-Aqsa attacks in occupied East Jerusalem. Notably, she orchestrated Malaysia’s first historic airdrop into Gaza from Jordan, collaborating with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) and the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
Her dedication to Malaysia is equally profound. Through the Pejuang Merdeka Campaign, Marina honoured army veterans who lost their limbs during the Malayan insurgency by providing essential relief. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she mobilized emergency missions, delivering PPE to frontline workers and nationwide assistance through the Bantuan Harapan initiative to support Malaysians under the ‘White Flag’ movement. Additionally, she has led flood relief efforts and continues to champion year-round support for underprivileged Malaysians.
Marina’s enduring commitment to humanity transcends borders. Whether addressing the needs of the poor, hungry, and oppressed or responding to global conflicts and catastrophes, her relentless efforts embody compassion, resilience, and hope for a better world.
