Nik Marina, the esteemed founder of the Karisma Humanitarian Outreach Mission (KHOM), is a distinguished educator and entrepreneur with a passion for transformative impact. As co-founder of Pusat Tuisyen Akademik Karisma alongside her husband, her educational center has earned the distinction of being recognized by the Kelantan Ministry of Education as the premier institution in the state.
Inspired by the success of her early emergency and humanitarian missions, Marina brought together her former students, known as Karismans, to establish KHOM, dedicated to transforming the lives of vulnerable communities worldwide.
On the global stage, Marina has spearheaded over 80 humanitarian relief missions, providing life-saving aid to hundreds of thousands of Syrians across Jordan, Lebanon, Türkiye, and Syria. Known for her hands-on approach, she and her team have braved conflict zones to deliver critical assistance directly to displaced families. In 2023, Marina and her team went on the ground to deliver humanitarian assistance to victims of the massive earthquake in Türkiye, providing critical support during one of the region’s darkest hours.
In Palestine, her leadership extends to high-risk regions, ensuring essential aid reaches those most in need through trusted partnerships and dedicated ground teams. Marina’s commitment includes leading emergency campaigns during the Gaza War and the Al-Aqsa attacks in occupied East Jerusalem. Notably, she orchestrated Malaysia’s first historic airdrop into Gaza from Jordan, collaborating with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) and the Royal Jordanian Air Force.
Her dedication to Malaysia is equally profound. Through the Pejuang Merdeka Campaign, Marina honoured army veterans who lost their limbs during the Malayan insurgency by providing essential relief. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she mobilized emergency missions, delivering PPE to frontline workers and nationwide assistance through the Bantuan Harapan initiative to support Malaysians under the ‘White Flag’ movement. Additionally, she has led flood relief efforts and continues to champion year-round support for underprivileged Malaysians.
Marina’s enduring commitment to humanity transcends borders. Whether addressing the needs of the poor, hungry, and oppressed or responding to global conflicts and catastrophes, her relentless efforts embody compassion, resilience, and hope for a better world.
Journalist Zurina is a masterful storyteller whose poignant narratives illuminate the lives of refugees, war victims, the oppressed, and the underprivileged. Her deeply empathetic approach to interviews, paired with her skill in crafting evocative and in-depth stories, has garnered widespread recognition. Zurina’s writing serves as a powerful tool for advocacy, bridging the gap between those in dire need and those with the capacity to help, while creating awareness about global issues and human suffering.
Since joining KHOM’s inaugural international mission in 2017, Zurina has been a key figure in advancing Karisma Humanitarian Outreach Mission’s (KHOM) efforts. Her work chronicles both local and international humanitarian missions, focusing on aid delivered to Syrian refugees in Jordan, Turkiye, Lebanon, and Syria, as well as addressing the ongoing challenges faced by Palestinians.
Zurina’s involvement transcends storytelling—she immerses herself in on-the-ground missions, particularly with Syrian refugees in Jordan. Her firsthand experiences of their struggles are transformed into compelling narratives that inspire empathy and drive meaningful action. Through her stories, she amplifies the voices of those in need, fostering awareness and solidarity among global audiences.
A seasoned journalist with over 30 years of experience, Zurina has demonstrated unparalleled versatility and commitment. She founded Harimau Selatan, the official magazine of Malaysia’s No.1 football team, under the leadership of DYAM Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim, the Crown Prince of Johor. Her diverse body of work also spans politics, arts, and lifestyle, featuring exclusive interviews with prominent leaders, including Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, and Datuk Seri Mohd Najib Tun Razak.
As a columnist, Zurina has made significant contributions to renowned publications like Harian Metro and Metro Ahad, alongside writing for international and local magazines such as Singapore’s Manja (now a TV program), Women’s Weekly, Her World, Lisa, and the online edition of Jelita.

Amirah, is a cornerstone of KHOM’s humanitarian and developmental programs. With exceptional expertise in coordinating board meetings, managing schedules, and crafting policy papers, she ensures the organization’s operations are efficient and impactful. Amirah’s meticulous approach extends to maintaining up-to-date databases, monitoring, and evaluating all missions and projects under KHOM’s banner.
Not one to remain behind the scenes, Amirah is deeply hands-on, engaging in every stage of humanitarian missions—from meticulous planning and quality control to the on-ground delivery of aid. Her unwavering dedication predates KHOM’s formal establishment, with her tireless efforts reaching war victims and communities in need across Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Turkiye, Jordan, and Malaysia.
Amirah has ventured into areas near conflict zones, delivering hope and aid to those in dire circumstances, including during the devastating Turkiye-Syria earthquake of 2023. Her critical role in emergency relief efforts spans from providing PPEs during crises to spearheading urgent aid for Al-Aqsa and Gaza emergencies.
Amirah, the Manager of a renowned private education center in Kelantan, is an avid traveler who blends her global perspective with a deep passion for humanitarian work. Her dedication and expertise are instrumental in driving KHOM’s impactful missions, fostering meaningful change both locally and globally.
Working in Major Project teams of the elevator industry, top-notch Elevator Tester, Azhim is involved in 3 of Malaysia’s renowned Mega projects elevation systems which includes the 2nd tallest building in the world. Azhim started off as a KHOM volunteer when he was appointed as the logistics officer during the 2014 emergency flood relief mission in Kelantan.
Beginning from 2017, he headed the Logistics Team for KHOM’s international humanitarian missions for Syrian Refugees in Jordan where he oversaw the delivery of aid to camp and urban refugees at the borders of near conflict zones of Jordan-Syria. Locally, Azhim runs projects for the homeless and is actively involved with charity works.
Armed with a degree in Accounting and Finance, Arshad is the driving force behind KHOM’s fundraising efforts, charting a bold course to elevate the organization to unprecedented heights. Known for his meticulous approach and exceptional technical skills, he has transformed KHOM’s fund optimization strategies, ensuring maximum impact for every contribution.
Arshad’s journey with KHOM began on the front lines of the 2014 Kelantan great flood relief mission, “Restoring Hope,” where he delivered lifesaving aid to displaced families grappling with the devastation of poverty and homelessness. This pivotal experience ignited his unwavering commitment to humanitarian work.
Treasured by KHOM as an expert in raising emergency funds, Arshad has successfully spearheaded critical campaigns, including the Al-Aqsa Emergency in 2021 and the Gaza Emergency sparked by the genocidal war that began in October 2023. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he went beyond his fundraising role, delivering PPEs and assisting frontliners on the ground, showcasing his dedication and adaptability in times of crisis.
Since 2021, Arshad has expanded his efforts to international missions, orchestrating the delivery of vital aid to refugees in Jordan and Turkiye. Today, his expertise in strategic planning, fund management, and on-the-ground coordination empowers KHOM to support Palestinians, Syrian refugees, and Malaysians in need. Whether locally or globally, Arshad remains a steadfast advocate for those in crisis, dedicated to building hope, delivering relief, and transforming lives.
Nurhusna is a dedicated professional with a deep passion for fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability to drive social and economic progress in dynamic environments.
During KHOM’s Syria Light of Hope 6.0 Mission for Syrian refugees in 2019, Husna played a pivotal behind-the-scenes role. Leading a team of volunteers under KHOM, she worked tirelessly with her friends to raise crucial funds for the mission. Her determination and resourcefulness as a problem solver shone through—whenever challenges arose during the fundraising drive, Husna was the first to step forward with solutions. Beyond spearheading creative fundraising strategies, she went the extra mile by visiting schools, opening up platforms for KHOM to raise awareness about the Syrian crisis.
Thanks to her exceptional efforts, Husna and her fellow volunteers—the majority, fresh SPM graduates—raised over RM55,000 in under four months. Their success inspired other alumni to join the cause, ultimately driving the total funds raised to nearly half a million Ringgit. This monumental achievement enabled KHOM to deliver vital aid to Syrian refugee families in desert camps in Jordan, including tents, toilets, water tanks, food boxes, hygiene kits, orphan aid, and other necessities.
Currently, Nurhusna serves as an Associate Consultant at an export management company headquartered in Pennsylvania, USA. Based in Shah Alam, she is responsible for operating the Malaysian satellite office and providing support to Malaysian entrepreneurs keen to explore the North American market. Known for her expertise in project management, Nurhusna excels in stakeholder relations, new project development, and logistical support. As a member of KHOM’s Board of Trustees, she holds the position of Assistant Honorary Treasurer, contributing her invaluable skills to the organization’s mission.
Though young, Adam brings a wealth of experience and dedication to humanitarian work. His journey with KHOM began in 2018, during his first year of university, where his passion for aiding those in need became evident. As a fresh secondary school leaver, Adam eagerly sought hands-on experience, striving to help people in every way possible.
When KHOM’s Mission Director, Puan Marina Hussin, led her first mission to Syrian refugee camps in 2018, Adam joined as her former student. Driven by a deep sense of purpose, he actively contributed to an emergency winter mission, where he demonstrated remarkable leadership by organizing volunteers and ensuring the successful delivery of winter aid to Syrian refugees in Jordan. Remarkably, Adam managed the entire aid distribution process in Jordan independently, with guidance from the team in Malaysia.
Despite his youth, Adam’s expertise in humanitarian aid is truly commendable. He is a dependable team member, always willing to go above and beyond to bring relief to those in need.
Adam holds a Degree in Syariah Usul Fiqh, and continues to serve humanity through KHOM’s missions.
Since then, continues to be actively involved in charity and humanitarian works. He now assists Palestinians, Syrian refugees, and Malaysians in need through his expertise in strategic planning and fund management.
